Just quit and all of a sudden I couldn't turn it over or even press the key in for the electric choke. Start relay will run if the starter if jumped in the control wiring there. Solenoid is not out. It makes the circuit for you and turns motor over. Is this in the ignition switch for sure? Looked over everything I could get to relatively easily.

Thanks... Gary

Hi Gary,

Look for a fuse in the engine compartment. Should be in a rubber looking connector. Usually near the starter..

BTW- Looks like we are neighbors....

Don't know what hp the motor is but on my 70hp it is on the port side at the rear of the motor close to the big red plugin, look around back there you will find it, there is also one on the starboard side in about the same location except lower on the power head.

I found that fuse quickly when this happened. Wasn't it. I think this happened before on my pontoon and it was a burnt up wire going to the main red plug. Maybe someone called it a fusible link but I don't remember.

Where are you Rick? Gary

Just a note as to what was wrong. The fuse was good but the fuse holder apparently had some issues. I finally ohmed the entire connection out and fuse was good and from one end of fuse holder to power was good. Other end of fuse holder to main red terminal connector was good so then I squeezed the inside terminals to be tighter on the fuse. Worked fine. I'm heading out to buy a new fuse holder now. Thanks for the input...

Gary

Another question on my motor... Now turns over and even fires for a few seconds at a time. Took this boat out in November and ran fine. Can gas just be tainted? I used a stabilizer to put it away and kept in in garage for winter. It's half full.

Thanks... Gary

Should be OK, Gary. If you put stabil in it, it is no doubt good.

I'm just across the blanchette bridge from you down by 270 and 44 in Webster Groves. Also, I go out Hwy 40 to 94, depending on which part of St. Charles I'm heading to. Probably 20-25 minutes at most...

BTW- What HVAC company do you own or work for?

I own Autumn Air Company. Small contractor. I guess I better post this as a problem by itself. I changed gas lines with my pontoon which does start and run as well as changing the spark plugs. Pulled the screen out of the fuel pump and it was clear. Not really sure which way to go. Starts for a few seconds and then dies. Fuel related but maybe not the quality of the fuel.

I guess I will go post this as a problem by itself..

Take care... Gary

Hi Gary

One test you can do is to mix up some pre-mix in a spray bottle and shoot some in the carb.throats and see if that helps. If so,the carbs are clogged and need cleaning. Are the spark plugs wet with fuel after you try to start it? Best to keep to one post, so that everyone knows what's going on and can help more. Also, Is your choke working properly?
