1978 Evinrude Control question.

I'm looking at buying a 78 evinrude 70 hp. this motor doesn't come with controls or the throttle cable. i know it take the 400 style of cable, are there adapters to hook this motor up to a newer controls?, or am i forced to hunt down a throttle control for The 73-78 400 style throttle? thanks for the help.

If you need the control anyway, why not just look for the correct one for the motor. Then you will be assured everything else is correct.

you need one with the big red cannon plug on the wiring harness. they are all compatible. watch ebay. outboard motor controls, johnson controls. evinrude controls, johnson/evinrude are compatible with each other.
