Ok well I'm new to the forums I had just bought a Boat and was looking for some info on it and ran across this forum. It seems there is a lot of knowable people on here so i thought I would post some pics and info on the boat i just bought and see if i can get some feed back on if it is a good boat and did i get a good deal as well as some specs. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok I just bought this boat for a $1,000 dollars. It was sitting is a 80 year elderly ladies Barn. Her and her husband bought it new, he pasted away about 5 years ago and it has not been driving since. How ever a guy that use to own a local Marina here on Lake of the Woods MN. was a friend and he had it started last year. He had taken the lower end off as you can see in the pic because it needs a Bellow Boot what ever that is lol. I was told it cost around a around $200 dollars to fix.

Here is what i know or the title tells me anyways about the boat.

Year= 1978
Make = Apollo
Type= Runabout
Length= 20 foot
Motor= In line six cylinder

Other than that i know nothing else. If someone could tell me if i got a good deal, is the boat a good boat, what is cursing speed or top speed and does it have any known issues..

Thanks a lot here are the PICS.

I dont know anything about Apollo boats but it looks like a really cool boat...love the shape of that transom....looks fast....being in MN i guess you wont be doing any ocean boating with it but I bet that baby can cut through some seas....that original canvas enclosure is sweet too.....good luck with it.

Cool lookin' boat.

Couple concerns though - appears to be several old holes on the transom, and the caulking around the drive makes me a little nervous.

Did you get the rest of the drive?

You need a mechanic my friend. Bellows, coupler, shift boots, and a new impeller for the water pump at a minimum. I hate deals like this where the drive has been undone for extended periods, they reek of "I pulled it apart and now what?". Lost stuff, unnecessary dismantling, weather exposure, dirt, (what's up with the holes in the transom? was it a duck decoy?) It may be a good deal if all works out, but I have a feeling you've bit off a bit of work here.
I really don't intend to be rude, but what I see you're about to part with some money.

I checked the spots in the back it seems that the paint/fiberglass chiped and someone sealed it with something so it would not futher chip. I will ask someone a little more inclined. As far as the lower end the guy who use to own the Marina around these parts took it off last year. It sat in a barn since then. The lower end is inside the boat all wraped up.. Someone also plugged the two holes in the lower end with some kind of cloth.

I found out the holes were from fish finders and other things that were mounted on it. It dont go all the way threw. They filled the holes with fiberglass/epoxy... You should have known this lol...

It has a in line 6 in it. Anyone know what the top end is for that set up?
