1978. 9.9 Evinrude won't idle

The above describe will not idle unless the choke is 3/4 pulled. The low speed adjustment seems to be of no effect. Runs great at 3/4 choke. Any ideas? I did disassemble and clean out carb. thoroughly without any change.

Howdy, hydroplane. Fuel starvation can be caused by interference with fuel flow in the tank, pickups, fuel line, ball pump or fuel pump. What you describe sure sounds like fuel starvation. If pumping the ball pump makes it run "right" you have fuel starvation.<br />Good luck.<br />JB
