Hi Guys...

Have an issue with my motor. I follow the cold start suggestions but after this step:

5) As the motor begins to stumble, bump the key in activating the choke/primer. You may need to do this several times until the motor can fast-idle on its own.

IF I mess up and the motor stalls, it can be a bear to get going again. Basically what happens is that as I crank it over, it seems to fire one cylinder which causes the starter to disengage from the flywheel requiring me to release the key, allow the starter to spin down, and try again. Over and over....I can't seem to figure where to go with the choke use at this point... FWIW this is a new starter.....

Suggestions?

Thanks,

Kerry

Do the basics on it first. Compression and spark test. Spark should jump a 7/16 " open air gap on a tester.

Good spark all cylinders....compression is ~120-125.

If it's been sitting it will start fairly easy..it's only if it stalls before it will idle down that I can't get it restarted........if it gets warmed up to the point where I can drop the warmup lever down. I can shut the motor of and restart it all day.....
