My current 1978 Johnson 85 hp is running fine. I picked up a 1970 Evinrude 115 hp powerhead, completely rebuilt, which I thought I would keep for a changeout if my 85 blew something. They look identical except for the ignition wiring. A few questions:
1. Will the 155 match up to the pattern on the exhaust housing?
2. Will the 115 be ok for the lower unit on the 85?
3. The plug wires on the 115 come directly from under the flywheel.
No coil packs, no CID on the 1970 115?
4. Where does the cooling water exit out the 115? The "pee hole"
port/hose is not in the location it is on the 85.
Maybe none of this will work, but maybe I got a few spare parts anyways
I guess.
