Hi. I'm new here and have just acquired a wizard 9.9 with the eska motor. The motor is in very nice shape as it has been garage keep for most of its life but I don't have any spark to either cylinder. I have cleaned the points and still done have a spark. I also checked the coils and they appear to be bad and I can't seem to find any replacements. My question is are there any other coils that would work with this motor?

First of all welcome to iboats :welcome: good to have you aboard...

Now, I do you know the coil is bad? Did you use an ohm meter and check the primary and secondary readings? If you do know for absolutely certain that the coil(s) is bad, and you can't find replacements anywhere, then try some other coil to see what happens. Did you look on EBay or any other source for replacements? Some times you can find things in the least likely places. But just to check, try any coil to see what happens. There are tons of other coils out there that you could make use of... Also if it does have points, then it also has condensor. Maybe the condensor is shorted. That would kill any spark dead... Take the wire off that goes to the condensor and try again...

It has a solid state ignition so I don't think it has points or if it does I haven't seen it. I had an electrician that I work with check the coils and he said they were bad so I just took his word for it but I will try a different coil and see if it works. Thanks for the welcome and the advice.
