Maybe I missed it here, but after a pretty lengthy search, I still cant find anything about removing my sterndrive concerning the electric shift cable. My Clymer manual doesn't have it either. (Just 1978 and later models) I'd like to get my sterndrive off the intermediate housing, but need a little guidance on the shift cable. Everything else looks pretty straight forward, but obviously I don't want to remove it until I figure out how to remove the cable. It's a 1977 351W with a electric shift lower end. The model on the drive is 981105. Thanks for the help on this.

Re: 1977 Sterndrive Removal

Just pulled my '77 drive off; Pull the insulating wrap off the two leads going to the outdrive right behind the motor(blue and green wires),separate the knife connections, and fish the wires through the hole in the intermediate unit as you pull the drive unit straight back.Assuming you've disassembled caps and mounts properly.
