I would like some guidance on where to find a replacement stop/kill switch/button for my 1977 Mercury 7.5 outboard serial#4696154. Also, if anyone could tell me the part number for this item, that would be much appreciated. This is the round black rubber button that stops the engine. The wires on mine are much deteriorated.
Thank you for the help.

Re: 1977 Mercury 7.5 outboard stop switch/button

dunno where you'll find one,
but 10 -12yrs ago the stop button on my '72 model fell to bits after going through some rough tracks, tried to find a OEM replacement ( but not THAT hard LOL ) went to a larger marine shop and the bloke there said just use this aftermarket one ( $6-7 att ) just had to file the hole a little bit bigger...and it and the donk are still working now,
looks and works the same as the original
