1977 johnson 25 hp kicking out of gear

I'm haveing problems with my 25 hp johnson kicking out of forward gear. Sometimes it will run for few minute without doin it, sometimes it will kick out after a few seconds. It doesn't kick out in reverse. I can't fine any gears that look bad or anything that maybe hitting the clutch dog. I have adjusted the shifting arm up and down and this has no effect on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.<br /><br />Thank you

Stonedog,<br /><br />Your clutch dog ears are rounded off. It doesn't take much.

Some of those dogs you can switch around and use the other side. Can't remember on a '77'.

Clutch dogs that are oreiented a certain way usually have a reference groove in them on the outside and usually point forward or to the front of the gear case.
