Hello guys great forumn I always refer to it when I have a problem.
I'm installing a water pump kit on a 1977 Johnson 140hp.
My question is about the gasket that goes in between the gearcase and the stainless steel plate (that the impeller sits on). The water pump kit I bought doesn't have this gasket. The old water pump I removed had this gasket, but the "OMC" parts diagram doesn't show it.
Is this gasket needed?
Here's the parts diagram, the first pic is my 1977 johnson gearcase. The second pic is a 1989 90hp gearcase,( both pics are "OMC") If you look at the second pic, gearcase part "10" is the gasket I'm wondering if its needed.
