hi i have a 1977 johnson 140 outboard. during the starting procedure i am suppose to lift the warm up lever then choke and crank the motor. my problem is that when i lift the warm up lever it does not advance the timing on the motor. If i manually advance the timing on the motor by pulling it forward it will start easy. after manually advancing the timing i can then use the warm up lever to reduce the timing to normal idle speeds. what would cause this? its making it very difficult to start the motor on the lake. when i lift the lever i can see the cable moving a little bit but it doesn't seem to move the timing forward at all. thanks!
