1977 Evinrude

Hoping someone can help me with a problem. I have an Evinrude 1977 115hp model # 1157935. Motor runs and starts great but when I am out on the water lately the motor, when I try to plane the boat races like it should be going faster but does not. I drop the throttle and slowly accelerate and it worked fine but the first time I couldnt get it to work, it seems to be getting more frequent. Is there something going wrong? If so would you know what it might be? The lower unit? Mabye carburators high speed/low speed things in them? I did just change the lower unit lube and it appeared to be fine/water free. sounds like a spun hub on your prop pull it and take it to a prop shop and have it checked out.

i second that.. i had this happen except i had a rod snap.. so take it and test the hub first.. if not look at the lower unit drive rod. but deff take a look at it now before it gets any worse

Thank you! I appreciate the help. I was worried about the lower unit but I was reading some other posts and I believe it is the prop hub. I will let you know if it wasnt or if it worked.. Thanks again!
