My boat began to slip on take off, I got a strong rubber smell when it slipped badly. Will move in reverse, forward only slowly now.
I have been told it is a cuppler in between motor and trans. Also was told most likely back of boat flex is cause so a major repair may be necessary. The back was reinforced once before.
The boat's engine runs and sounds great the interior has been redone. I had the gimble bearing just done before this outing. I have trouble finding people willing to work on a older boat.
What to you think is the problem?
How much should I expect to pay? When do you stop and how much would you spend due to age?

i would have a good marine surveyor who is independent of your local repiar shops check and see if you really have a hull problem and how bad it is because any repiars will be wasted if you have a problem in this area

when you know the condition of the hull it will be much easery for you to decide what the boat is worth to you as only you can make that call

tommays
