1976 Tilt Trim Rebuild Question

I bought a donor motor for the Tilt Trim unit and am in the process of rebuilding the cylinders. I bought an o ring kit but am confused as the o ring I took off the tilt piston had two spacers that resemble piston rings on each side. Also the old seal had space for them fit and a flat edge on the id. Do I need to use these spacers on the new o ring (that is round) or does the new kit not require them?
