Our family recently purchased a 1976 Holiday - and the second time using the boat the trim on the inboard/outboard motor would not lower. My teen son is interested in learning how to repair the boat - so I'm looking for advice on resources for him to learn from and if anyone has a copy of the original manual? In the meantime - we think the first place to start is adding trim oil. The photo attached is of what we think is the trim oil tank. Can anyone confirm? The oil inside is red and matches the the oil color of Carquest Multi-vehicle ATF Transmission Fluid that came with the boat.) How much should be added if we are correct and is there a proper way to do this with the trim up. If it is not the oil - we will need advice on further troubleshooting. So - will need to find a mechanic who knows these boats in NH. We are excited to have an older boat to learn from and keep on the water - but have a steep learning curve!

Welcome. That is a picture of the trim pump.
If the fluid is red it's ATF.
There is a slotted screw on the left side of the reservoir 3" from the bottom.
That is both the fill hole and max fill line.
Just above that is the vent.
After you fill it, cycle the rams a few times and check the level.

Glad it worked out.
While you have a starcraft boat it appears it has a mercruiser drive.
You might be better off asking motor/drive questions in the mercruiser sections.
Good luck!
