1976 Mercury 65 hp switchbox

I am trying to troubleshoot a switchbox on a 1976 Mercury 65 hp. The manual says I need special equipment, but not indicate the equipment or procedures necessary. Can any one help?<br /><br />Thanks<br />Nate

You need a DVA or OHM meter

I found where the manual says that an ignition analyzer is required and not to use a multimeter. Can you tell me the procedure for using this device for switchboxes?<br /><br />Thanks
