I'm getting exhaust and fuel coming out of the bottom carb. when running. I rebuilt the fuel pump,(it was leaking) but the motor still doesnt run right. It acts like its getting too much fuel and wont clear out.I took the air silencer off and started it and I see fuel coming out of the lower carb opening. Is one of the reed valves or leaves broken or cracked. It acts just like a motorcycle I had when a corner of one of the reed valves broke off. Should I pull the carbs and manifold and check them. Im looking at 2 wks min. before I can get it into a shop. I need to get my fishin' on!!!! Know what I mean? Thanks, joonch.

Exhaust coming back through the bottom carb? That would have to be one messed up reed cage. Usually if the reeds are damage, you will get blow back from the down stroke of the piston. If your sure your getting one or the other, I don't see a choice but to pull the reed housing. While your at it, why not rebuild the carbs if they havn't been touched for a while?

Keep us posted ....thanks.

Well I bit the bullet and pulled the carbs and intake mainfold and found the problem. A FREAKIN SCREW FELL OUT OF THE AIR SILENCER AND FOUND ITS WAY THRU THE CARB AND WEDGED ITSELF INTO THE REED.Well that went well and was inexpensive. So i fired it up and hit WOT and man you shoulda seen the water flyin!! (it has a jet pump on it)I'll be hittin the river tomorrow!Later, Joonch
