1976 evinrude throttle reassembly

I have disassembled the evinrude throttle/ shifter control on my 1976 ranger to inspect the ignition switch. Now i am at a loss as to how to reassemble the shifter mechanisn an get the little steel ball on the end of a spring back into place. Are there instruction on how to reassemble this mechanism??

Ditto :facepalm: I stripped the screw head off on the holdback plate that covers the spring. I have no choice but to leave the ball out. sometimes I have to jiggle the throttle handle to start the motor. That is easier than drilling and tapping pot metal.

Put the shift and throttle plate back into the hsg. Then install the ball and spring and quickly put the plate on.

Thanks for the feedback, I finally solved my problem by further disassembling the throttle and was able to remove the spring cover plate, squeeze the spring and ball into place, and replace the cover. I just had not removed enough parts to expose the cover and spring/ball assembly....
