another spark plug question my outboard an 1976 evinrude 40 had champion L86c plugs in it whenI got it
the champion book recommends UL51c which changes up to a b7hs ngk. I tried a pair of br7hs ngks and
had trouble with the bottom plug fouling while trolling, I just replaced them with a pair of BR6HS (resistor because of
my ham radio) questions being is this the write plug? what are your thoughts on Champion VS NGK? I would of like to tried
some of the new bosch platiunim plugs but I guess there not available for outboards yet.

thanks for you thoughts!

Warren Kean

Stick to what is recommended in your owners or shop manual. Forget the rest.

A couple of years ago I was down in the Fla Keys and figgured that it was time for plugs since I had not changed mine in a while. I did not have my manual with me and took the recommendations of a "mechanic". 8 plugs (2 V4s) @ $7.00 a piece = $56.00. Motors ran like crap. Got home, checked the manual - sure enough. Bought the correct plugs & ran fine.
