The 1976 Evinrude outboards of 20 and 25 hp have the same bore and stroke, is the main difference a matter of carbs or what else is different?

Welcome!

I dont believe there was a 20 in 1976. What year 20 are you trying to compare to the 1976 25?

In the years there were 20's and 25 there were some basic differences. The pistons were different, the 25 crank was balanced and the heads were different.

Re: 1976 Evinrude 20 - 25 outboards differences

Thanks for the replies. The 20 I'm querring about is model number 20BA76E. The Clymer Service Manual lists the 20 and 25 hp specs for years 1973 to 1976. The seller reported it as a 1976 model, maybe if you have info on this model please enlighten me. I was planning to buy this motor and after checking the specs they look basicly the same. I had hopes to upgrade this 20hp to the 25 hp if it is feasable. When I bought my 1991 15 hp Johnson the marina told me it was simply a 9.9 with carb change, but it was manufactured as a 15 hp. I'm a novice so don't "shoot the messenger".
