1976 85hp Mercury Outboard Carbs

I have a 1976 85hp Merc outboard motor and am wondering if anyone can tell me what carbs (there are 4 I believe)are on this motor, for cleaning and or rebuilding. The engine kills if I slow troll or try to trailer the boat leading me to believe that they are fouled. Don't think this engine has ever been tuned, so thinking that new spark plugs/wires/clean carbs will do it. Thanks for any help...Bombsaroy@aol.com

Hi Roy<br /><br />I think your in the right lane. I dont understand the question of what carbs - the carbs are made for the motor by Merc - or some carb manufacturer on behalf of Merc. They are not standard or other brand. Clean every passage, especially the small ones at top of throttle valve. Get a rebuild kit and change the parts. New plugs, and i guess your problem will be gone.<br /><br />good luck

G Dane,<br />Thanks for the advice. I guess I'm not that knowledgable on outboard motor carbs, I thought that they might bae a particular brand, so when I went into ask for rebuild kits, they would ask me what kind they were. Thanks again for your help...
