no water is comming out of the leg when stat is in when i remove stat i get flow out the leg
can i run the motor with out stat as i think some water flow is better then none at all.

Do you know if your stat is working? If you are getting water out of the stat mounting hole with it removed, and none with it in place, sounds to me like the stat is stuck shut.....just like I had happen years ago on a '75 3 banger.

Stat should start to open at around 140F (give or take depending on model and mfgr). Put it in a pan of slowly heating water with a candy thermometer or something that will read up to boiling temp (212F at sea level pressure). If your thermometers gets up to say 170 give or take and it is still closed, time for a new one.

hi Texasmark thanks for your reply

it is a brand new stat and i tested it first in a pot, im pretty sure that the top grommit on the water tube is stuffed and when the stat is installed water is leaking from the top water tube grommit and not getting past the stat when the stat opens very little water almost none is getting past it and comming out the leg.
i have tested the motor with out stat and water flows through the motor with only a small leak at the water tube due to the pressure not being high. i installed a tell tail and i get great flow to the outer exhaust cover but not past the head.

i cant remove powerhead to fix.

so can i run my motor with out a stat so i get flow past the outer head cover.

motor starts great hot or cold i have cleanded the pistons and and ports motor dosent miss a beat. except for water issue
