1976 235 OMC Starter

Help am new to this kind of stuff.have a 1976 Thompson I/O with a 235 OMC.The motor does not have a starter on it and I have no Idea what will work on this motor.I belive it is an 351 ford.Will a regular starter work Ok or do I need to find a regular marine starter? Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne, if you value your life, you best get a marine starter. They cost a lot more but they do not spark. I've seen two boats blow up because of auto starters and alternators and its not a pretty sight.

Thanks WV I will prolly get the proper starter.I have been looking for a good used unit but have not done so yet.I think the motor will need to be rebilt so I have a lot of work ahead of me.
