My tilt/trim is not working. Tilt won't go up or down. I have replaced both selonoids but it still only clicks. Any help would be appreciated.

Humor this suggestion. I had the same thing happen last summer and as it turned out it was just a poor electical connection. I removed each connection and lightly sanded the contacts with emery cloth. I am really not too well versed on the Merc system but also check your hydraulic fluid level. Some systems have a fail safe and will not engage unless they are full.

Bob

A bad trim motor might also be your problem. Put power directly to the motor (bypass the solenoids etc.). If trim motor still doesn't operate the motor is your problem. Otherwise the probelm is elsewhere in the electrical system.

as mrmerc says, bypass the solenoids, but be carefull!! Have a look at the motor wires and trace them to a connection point. Take a couple jumpers and:
>black to negative, blue to positive = tilt up
>black to negative, green to positive = tilt down

DO NOT POWER UP GREEN AND BLUE together.....

Try tapping the motor with a screw driver gently while trimming. It may restart the motor. If this is the case, it's obviously the tilt motor.
i'm changing mine this weekend.
mike

if tapping the motor has an affect, its probably just worn brushes(cheap fix)

Thanks for all your help. I bypassed the solenoids and the trim motor worked. It ended up being a bad wire connection. Thanks again!!

:)
