I inherited boat with a Merc 1500 outboard. She starts fine but after about 12 - 15 minutes, it dies. It's not a fuel issue because I hooked up an external tank and she still does the same thing. It doesn't matter if I'm idling or going fast, it's almost as if the key is being turned off. Once it dies, it'll turn over but not catch. Could this be an overheating issue? It seems to pee well. I'm thinking it's a coil or the switchbox but these are just guesses. Does anyone have any similar experience? Thanks in advance.
