i have removed the (6) retaining bolts holding the lower unit onto the outboard but the shift linkage is still attached and will not allow me to completely remove the lower unit. where do you disconnect the shifter linkage? i don't think that the 90 deg bend in the shift linkage at the power head will fit through the linkage tube connecting the power head and lower unit. does anyone know where the shift linkage disconnect point is on this engine?

It should be behind the starter at the front of the powerhead between the carbs and cylinder block.

thanks "Big Johnson". I saw the bolted connection between the shifter arm and the shift linkage in front of the power head but i wasn't sure if the 90 deg. bend at the end of the linkage would fit through the linkage tube. i guess your saying it will. thanks again, paule
