1975 Johnson 6hp carb

I have a 1975 johnson 6hp engine that I'm trying to get running. It was running last year but at the end of the season I forgot to winterized it and drain the carb. When I disconnected the drain plug on the carb and pumped the primer bulb nothing was coming out. Would this mean that the old gas may have turned into a gooey mess and is clogging up the fuel lines/carb?any help would be greatly appricated!!!! Thank you

well why not start with a good carb cleanup ...you inlet needle may just be stuck clean and air blow all passages for a start check the fuel line line for any brown gooey stuff but I suspect a carb job will set you on your way .

I doubt the gas would gel up in just a few months. Heck, I got out the weed whacker this afternoon and it started right up. Pull the fuel line off the carb and see if it's getting that far. Most likely what Crosbyman said, a stuck float needle.

Pull the fuel line off of the carb and give the carb a shot of compressed air. Then try the fuel again.

Thanks guys for the help. How long on average does treated gas stay good and how long does non treated? I will get at it tomorrow. Thanks again

some lawn mowers work 15-20 years with no care... I had brown jelly once in an outboard...I suspected the gas station supply more than anything else

​but on my ETEC 75 I take 0 chances in late oct. fill the tank, threat the gas run 30 min and store 6 months. I May I then take out half the gas and refill

weedeater lawn mower and lawn the tractor get the old stuff

never had any issues with bad 10% ethanol gas
