1975 evinrude 40 hp 4005c lower unit

I was adding gear oil to my lower unit this morning when i noticed oil running from my water intake. Is it a seal , to much oil or what?

Is it lower unit oil or unburnt engine oil, not uncommon for unburnt engine oil to drain from the exhaust housing.

Well being a 2 cycle engine I would think it is gear oil it is not dark like 2 cycle oil. When I first noticed my first reaction was to add oil to lower unit,and while I was adding it oil started flowing from the port just above the port
