1975 Evinrude 135 Lower Unit Drain Plug Gaskets/Seals

Could anyone please advise on what gaskets or seals I need for my lower unit fill and drain plugs on a 1975 Evinrude 135 HP.

Been looking around and can't seem to find the info I'm looking for.

My 87 150hp Johnson uses O-rings and my 77 15hp evinrude uses plastic crush washers; loosen the top drain screw and see what's there or go to a OMC dealer and check. Do Not Mess With Phillips Head Screw!

Make sure what you have. Either O-rings or washers. Don't mix them up with the different drain plugs.

It's a white plastic washer. P/N 311598.

Emds. Are you sure ?? Drain plugs can get switched over the years.

That's the nylon drain plug washer called out on the original factory diagram for that 1975 135 engine. Still used on today's engines. (incl the new 300 hp) There are other drain plugs, including smaller ones that take an orange washer and some with orings, usually on the low hp engines, for just some years. This is the number that 95% of the OMC's take.

Yes, but it's the other 5 % that will get you if somebody switched them. Those o-ring plugs are still out there.

The originator of the thread wanted to know which washers worked on his 1975 engine. The 311598 was the original OEM factory washer number. Guess I am assuming that he is still using the original type drain/vent screws.
