1975 Evenrude 15 HP

Guys,<br /><br />I have been presented with an opportunity to aquire a 1975 Evenrude 15 HP regular shaft pull start tiller motor (my Yamaha 15 bit the dust). This motor is a very little used (less than 10 hours total run time) unit that appears to be in excellent shape. I have some questions...<br /><br />Were these motors reliable?<br />What did they cost new?<br />What are they worth?<br /><br />I plan to replace the water pump impeller, the oil in the foot and remove the spark plugs and pre-oil the cylinders and take it out and run it. Have I forgotten anything?<br /><br />Also, both coils have cracks in them. Is this a problem? bayou;<br /> I have 1974 'Rude 9.9 Sportwin Electric which was stored for several years. The coils were both cracked and needed to be replaced. I had to replace the points condensor and driver coil, the carb was rebuilt, the fuel pump was replaced and the cam follower was out of time. The total cost of parts was $220.00 USD. I inherited the motor and now plan to sell it the asking price will be $375.00 USD the motor is litteraly in like new condition. (I'm located in Michigans thumb)

I had a 1975 15 hp for quite a while, and it was a great motor--bought it brand new, and gave it lots of use, with few problems<br />Does sound like you will need new coils.<br />I believe I paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $750 new (in 1975 dollars). Have no idea what it might be worth today

Bayou Fisher,<br /><br />Godda agree with Plywoody.<br />Replace the coils. <br />My local Napa dealer lists them for?...... if memory serves,...... about $25<br /><br />Good Luck<br />HAVE FUN!
