1975 85 hp Johnson

Motor won't start. When I disconnect one of the exit lines from the bottom of the fuel pump and crank the engine no fuel is coming out. The filter appears to be clean. Fuel Pump????<br />Thanx

First check the obvious, fuel lines not clogged, fuel available in tank, primer bulb working fine.<br />The test for the pump is as follows - this straight from the service instruction book - <br /><br />Testing Fuel Pump - <br />Remove carb to fuel pump hose. Connect a fuel pressure guage between the carb and fuel pump.<br /><br />[note - before testing release fuel tank cap to release any pressure. Fuel tank must not be more than 30" below fuel pump]<br /><br />Start motor and observe guage. Pump pressure should read as below.<br /><br />RPM = 600 - 1psi<br />RPM = 2500 to 3000 - 1.5psi<br />RPM = 5000 - 2.5psi<br /><br />Hope this helps<br />Ross
