I ran my outboard with muffs to get sabilized gas into the carbs and fog it.

Being a newbie, I ran full water pressure into the muffs. I should know better that that, since the water pressure is 40-50psi.

I ran it for about 10 minutes this way.

So, did I screw up my outboard?? Did I mess up the water pump or seals?

What should I look out for?

Thanks for the help.

No!

You're fine. The worst that could happen is that you bypassed your water pump. As long as the engine didn't overheat, you're OK.

Its all about getting water through the cooling passages in the motor so, if it was coming back out in the right place, you are fine.

whew, I should be OK, there was water everywhere.

What caused me to worry was some water coming out at the lower unit seam. I was afraid that an internal seal may have gone too.

hello,
i have been working on my water plates on my 1971 85HP evinrude cyl heads nd note how the water comes out of block and into head... and how it figure 8's up and around thru the water passage ways to get fresh or warm water to the many areas to cool of the combustion chamber external head side, etc.

down, up and around, down up and around, round n round... :)

good design!
