i was needing to rebuild carb and water pump on this motor as it has been sitting up a couple of years without runnig. Where is a good place to get the parts to do this?<br /><br />i am pretty confident i can do this myself as i have some mechinical knowledge and a good manual to go by. but still what are some tricks and things to note when doing this??

Next would probably be incorrect float setting.<br /><br />Probably the most common error in impeller replacement is not doing it when it has not yet failed.<br /><br />Good luck, and welcome aboard. :)

Ric,<br /> As JB says. In addition, when removing the low-speed jet, if the needle valve bearing(#35 on BRP carburetor diagram) doesn't come out with the needle valve, don't put another one in. Also, don't attempt to remove the old one. Just re-assemble all other new parts.

how hard it to tear down the lower unit and all to replace water pump?? i am pretty confidnet i could do it just would like to know of any suprises...

Just make sure that after the L U is unbolted, you disconect the shifter linkage. usually a small cover on the side of the exhaust housing held on with 2 screws. under that there is a screw that holds your shifter rod. After that, just be patient & use wood wedges to spread it apart a little at a time until its free. Then don't forget to put a little lube on the driveshaft splines before putting it back
