I'm looking for a set of manuals for my 75 9.9. I saw a set on ebay for a 1976 and wondered what were the diferences between the motors.

Hi SoLittle

I can't imagine there were many, if any at all, changes in the years. Especially around 1975. They didn't make many changes to them at that point...

The only thing I can see is a change in carbs. In 76', there was three model runs. H, G and R. The G and R models used the same carb as the 75's. The H model uses a different carb body and high speed jet. I would suppose some upgrading in throat and orifice size??

Certainly no differences you'd notice in the manual as far as general service and such goes. Primary differences were in the decals...
- Scott

Hiya,

Follow link below and check it out... I think that the major changes in the early years of those motors were: Point/coils/condensers to 1st gener CDI, then to CDI2... all happened within a couple years.

9.9 / 15 hp article

geeze, I'm jumping to conclusions... are you talking about OMC or MERC or what???

The CDI ignition debuted in 1977 on the 9.9 and 15. The '74 to '76 models used the low-tension magneto with the maker points, driver coil and external coils.
- Scott
