Re: 1974 Volvo outdrive
If you realey want to do it.......good 650 or better carb, intake(edelbrock Profomer air gap),heads (my case,Mopar Magnum Swirl) and pistons (10 to 1 flat top). For the money...intake ($200.00). For the power.. heads, intake, carb combo. If you ever do a rebuild, balance the motor. What a diffrence.
One last thing. If you have not done a rebuild for years there is tons of HP to be found there. You can get a master rebuild kit for not that much. A couple hundred depending on what motor you have could be less. Got mine a Northern Auto Parts. With all the add ons and up grades it still only came to 419.00. Thats Mopar everthing costs more. It all depends on what you want to do. A 74 Donzi 18' If it is the boat I am thinking about I would do what I did to my motor. Just a couple of little things to suck every HP I could.
Hay what part of Maine are you from? I have family in So Portland and we hang out in Bar Harbor a least once a year. I have one dream (a simple one)to run my boat out of Sebasco Harbor. Thats a long tow and the boat has not been proven for a trip like that and the kids have to grow up a little bit.......... Some day
