1974 mercury 85hp controls when i split the the case on the control boxa pin came out

ok well when i took it apart a little pin size metal piece came out and dont know where it came from does any one have a diagram ??

If you look in the upper forward corners of the case halves, you will see a thin piece of spring steel with a slot formed in it for the little pin to fit into.

Item 2 is the thin piece of metal with the slot and item 3 is the pin you have. You slide the pin and the thin pice together into the slot and ensure they stay there while you push to two halves together on their alignment pins.
