I have a really nice boat I bought last year and ran great till last weekend. Out cruising around the bay and it locked up. No warning and starter will not turn over now. This is the inline 6 engine. Any ideas where to start? Boat is low hours and a great boat, I sure would like to get it going again.

Could be a few things but sounds like you may have water in the cylinders. Pull the spark plugs and try cranking it then, keep an eye out for water splashing out of the spark plug holes while doing this. If you see water, it is time for a manifold and riser replacement.

Check your oil for a milky color indicating water.

{edit}
Be sure to ground the coil before cranking.

The cylinders filled with salt water is a awful thought. I'll have to out there and check it out Saturday. Is there any way to flush without motor running?

If you have Saltwater in those cylinders,.............

It's Already Too Late........

Take the Sparkplugs Out,..... Turn it over a few times,.... Put the plugs back in,+ Crank it Up......

Hopefully,... It'll atleast Start......

Good Luck........

You might get lucky...pull plugs, blow out water by turning it over a couple of times.. put in a little oil (at least wd-40) then crank her over. She might survive. Serious possibility of cracked manifold which can cause cracked head. I KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE...

you can also pull the outdrive and see if the motor will turn over. this wil tell you if it is the motor or outdrive.
