1974 Evinrude 40 wont idle

Need helP with diagnosing. Engine runs fine at mid to high seeds but wont idle. starts right uP with the choke on and will stay running if I keeP the choke half closed. I susect the low sPeed jet on carb or Possible fuel PumP. Need some exPert advice.

Being able to keep it running with the choke is a sign of carb problems. It's time for a carb rebuild.<br /><br />I would also replace the float.
