1974 500 50 hp" alternator flywheel " vs " alternator-stator flywheel "
I see by looking at the wiring diagrams for the Thunderbolt sytems, that my 1974 Merc. has a "alternator flywheel" . It's the Type II system. All the other systems: Type I, III, IV, and Type V have stators under the flywheel. Most have triggers. Do the years 1965-1974 have triggers and stators. The alternator flywheel wiring system looks to be of a simpler design than the others. Just curious, any thoughts on this?
