Hey all,
I recently bought a boat with a seized 1997 130hp evinrude. I got a really good deal on a 1974 135hp evinrude. I know in 1996 the controls changed.
I bought a wiring harness adapter to convert from the red plug to the small plastic connectors #423-6344. Tonight i installed it but the engine won't crank.
The only plug that I can't plug in is the blue one circled in the picture. There is no place to plug it in. Also there is 2 connectors for the engine check system that I can't plug in either because the 1974 engine doesn't have a check system. Any suggestions on why it won't crank.

The blue plug may be for the power trim, but for an engine later than your 1976. Think that came out in the early 80's. If you have power trim, you may need to adapt it to the pigtail w/o the plug. What did the instructions say that came with the pigtail? I'd probably replace the glass 20 amp engine fuse. Also, when the fuse is out, make sure the fuse holder is not rusty, corroded. They won't work after many, many years.
