Hello everyone,
I am in the prosses of restoring my 1973 Starcraft Holliday and when I removed the skin from the bow I found that the prior owner rebuilt the wood structure in a very abstract way including a street sign.
I cant seem to find any pictures anywhere that show how these were originally built. I was hoping someone in this vast community would have pictures or a link to pictures. I have included a picture. I can see the grins and comments, I know I had a few too.

It looks factory correct to me, just added the sign...

Probably added the sign to make the bow rigid enough to mount a pedestal (fishing?) seat.

It looks fine to me. It's possible the sign and hunk of plywood between the sign forward is to stiffen a walking path or as JB said, a seat. My bow buckles and springs back when walking on the bow.

Thank You jbcurt00 and Ga_Boater. There was never a pedestal seat mounted, but was very supported when walking on. I plan on reengineering this so it looks as good as it functions. I did find a picture of Dozer's Holliday and looks like he used a sheet of plywood from the cross support to the tip of the bow. I tried to PM him but he never got back to me.

There is family history with this boat. My best friends dad bought it new in 73 and it saw many fish brought aboard in it's years. When he was at his last days fighting cancer he called me and said, come get the boat and make sure it see's many more fishing trips to the lakes. He was like a dad to me. It hasn't been in the water in 5 years as I dealt with cancer for 2 of those years and the other 3 were getting my life back in order, and my shop was so busy there was no time. Now there is time and so as in my trade it's time for a frame off restoration, or restro-mod.

I know I will be back with more questions during this project.

It's been a long time since Dozer has been around. We have a few Holiday builds. I would suggest moving this to the Starcraft section where the SC brains are. Let us know if you want to move the thread.

What a heartbreaking backstory and I'm sure you'll honor your best friend's father.

I kept the same wooden supports but added vertically-oriented wood to make it rigid.

Thank you for the kind words CC. My thought of him is what gets me excited to do this build and get back to the high lakes fishing.

Thank you for the picture and the idea of extra support. This is just one area of change and trying to get all my ideas and modifications figured out before assembly. Your build thread helped me with a lot of that and I am incorporating in my build. Hopefully I can get the cart built this weekend and get it off the trailer to get things rolling
