Hi, I have a 1973 Mercury 75 (the 7.5 hp). I have changed the impeller and tried to make sure nothing is blocking any tubes. I started it up after doing this and it peed really well for about a minute and then stopped completely. I was wondering if this model had a thermostat and if it was stopping the pee? And where this might be located. If not, any other ideas? otherwise I will disassemble and check for blockages again.
Continuing the saga - I did more research and tried disconnecting the tube from the pee hole itself and it flowed OK but intermittently. I tried blowing back down the tube and saw that some exhaust came out - perhaps some exhaust is being sucked up the tube? Is this normal?
Cheers

If you have enough water. It should pee nonstop.Sometimes on the hose, even a bucket is in't enough.
Take the hose off and see if there is anything inside.
Use air/water to backflush.Backflush the motor too.
Had a 8hp Honda that did just that.I backflushed and all kinds of wasp nests came out.J

Cheers jeeryjerry05- I will backflushing a go tonight.

Tried back flushing and disassembled and cleaned out all the impeller and surrounding parts and tubes - The flow is much better but still varies in strength. I will keeping flushing and cleaning and hopefully that will do the job.
Cheers
