1973 merc 1 stern drive full ?

How do I fill the 1973 pre alpha out drive it has two vent holes. Do I have to fill the lower unit then the upper unit or does the upper get it from the lower unit

You fill the drive from the bottom up. Remove both plugs, attach a lube pump on lower hole and fill until it comes out the top. Install top plug, then remove pump from lower and quickly install lower plug

Do I remove all three plugs to drain then screw in pump and pump till it comes out middle plug screw that one in and pump more till it comes out of top plug. Screw in and then screw bottom one in

I would say no to removing the middle one for now. pump from the bottom and if you can pump oik the upper is connected with a transfer hole .If you can`t pump oil remove the middle plug . If oil flows now the upper case is NOT connected with a transfer hole
and must be filled differently
