Hello everyone . Need help with my 1973 135 Johnson. The ign switch will not turn motor over but, will turn it off after you hot wire it. Choke still works. what wires must be connected for it to start if I bypass the ign switch to try to eliminate wire problem from switch to engine. Thanks in advance Lee

Re: 1973 Johnson 135 ignition problem.

I would suggest dismantling and cleaning the contacts in the ignition switch, checking/cleaning contacts on the engine terminal block and starter solenoid before messing with and cobbling the wiring. However, if you insist: I believe it is written on the back of ignition switch: Bat, ign, S. In my book S = white, ign = purple, bat = red/purple

Thank s for the advise. Found problem as I was cleaning. My Nuetral safety switch was damaged. Turns over fine now. Have a good fourth.
