HI. I have been around boating my whole life as a passenger, skier, and tuber. Now I get to be an owner. I live in southwest MI:usa2:. Just got a 1973 20ft Hurricane Fun decker with a 188hp Murcruiser (302 Ford, double barrel holly). FIRST BOAT! :D Engine runs good but has minor issues, transom is good, and (888) out drive is good, but needs prop. Has some other minor issues to address, (trailer tongue bent, bad bearings on one tire, and bilge pump). Hull and deck are good. Picked it up for less than a one month car payment (stupid cheap):eyebrows:I cant find ANY photos of same boat any where. SO what are your thought on this find? Did I get *@#$&# or did I do good. Any one had this boat? Use for this boat include family fun, tubing, skiing, fishing, cruising (lake). Pic, story's, info all welcome. Like I said NEW to this side of boating so don't be to rough.:behindsofa: Also will doing my own repairs cuz I'm cheap and confident in my mechanic skill. Plus have all of you to help out and give me a kick in (the ***) I mean the right direction if I get lost. One post so far (cooling raw water????) had lots of good help. Happy to answer question.

Welcome aboard Arlie.

Those Hurricanes are kinda' so ugly they're cool ... But I LOVE the deck layouts on 'em. What a great party barge! I don't know Mercs that well so someone else will have to speak to the drive, but if you got it for less than $600 I think you did fine with it.

It'll be a good all around day boat for a family. It won't be particularly suited for any one thing (like a ski boat for skiing), but as far as packing folks on and still being comfortable for a cruise it'll be hard to beat.

More than anything else: make sure it's safe. Solid all around (floors, transom, etc.), floats ;), and goes like it's supposed to.

Thank y'all have a great time.

Hi, thanks a lot for the reply . I like the center mount console and the flip rear seat is pretty cool to. And yes way under $600. New prop cost more than i payed for the boat lol. Was sitting in the woods and I figured trailer was worth it. Took it home and boat turned out to be in far better shape than I expected.
