Hey guys i just got this boat and decided to replace the water pump because i dont know the last time it was changed i just bought the repair kit here on i boats.. now my question is when i took of the water pump housing i noticed there were no gaskets anywhere under it.. from every water pump job i have watch here on the internet there are gasket under there but not on mine the kit i ordered dont come with them does this not need to be sealed.. of course i got the seal that goes on the end of the drive shaft that goes up into the motor and new seals on the water pump itself but no gaskets.. from my understanding when i go to put the impeller in the housing there is now wrong direction as long as when i put the housing over the impeller to turn the drive shaft clockwise is this correct hopefully someone can tell me thanks guys

Doesn't show a gasket in the exploded diagram view on the evinrude site and i've replaced quite a few without a gasket, just the housing, plate and pump and whatever o-rings/grommets come with it. impeller direction will flip if it's wrong the first time you fire up the engine.

Thanks for the quick reply should i put a little sealer on or just leave well enough alone if it dont need a gasket i really dont see why it would need a gasket not like water it gonna leak into the lower end right

No sealer needed, the lower unit is sealed with a bearing housing and seal, the water rides up a seperate cavity in the lower unit, seperate from the gears. While your in there inspect the plastic water intake screen and change it if it's cracked, perfect time to do it.

No need for sealer, however if you do use some it will do no harm.
