I recently purchaced a '73 model 110 9.8HP.
I had trouble starting it several times - suspected it was flooding. Spark is good on both cylinders. I removed the carb and disassembled it. It was spotless and all the seals were in great condition, but it seemed like the float valve was sticky. I cleaned the valved, reassembled, and it started on the second pull.
I thought I was done. I put it on the boat (11' Zodiac), and it started right up. Ran it at WOT for about an hour and it ran perfectly.
6 hours later, I go to the dock and start it. Starts fine. Put it in reverse at idle, no problem. Put it in forward, no problem. Throttle up and it stalls.
Started right back up twice more, but stalled as soon as I opened the throttle up at all. Then it stopped starting at all.
This morning, two days later, it won't even start. Doesn't even try.
Any thoughts as to what to do next. I can clean out the carb again, but I just don't trust this motor now.
Thanks,
Eric
