I just got my firt boat and the chrysler motor starts but no water comes out once motor is running. Does this mean I need a new water pump? Also, when I drained lower unit oil I noticed that no oil or water came out but when I started filling the lower unit with oil all the old oil came out of the vent hole.I have changed the oil 2 times already and every time I drain the lower unit no oil comes out of the drain hole but once I try to fill the unit all the fluid come out of the vent hole, am I doing something wrong  or does this mean my lower unit might need some repaires?

EL TEKO

Yes on the water pump replacement, since you don't know when it was done and you have no water flow. Replace thermostat while you're at it. As for the lower unit fluid problem, the only thing I can think of, is are you removing the vent plug also when draining?

I don't remove the vent plug at all when draining the lower unit. I have a service manual that I have been using and follow Instructions.

that is why you cant get the oil out. You need to remove the vent and the drain screw. Both of these have dime size heads. Oil will drain out. Then fill from the drain hole till it comes out the vent hole. Put vent plug back in then quickly put drain plug back in.
