1973 40hp tacho

hi all
from the uk and have a 1973 johnson 40hp manual start , i need to fit a tacho ,anybody have any ideas on how to do this as i do not have the grey wire ,
is there a tacho that fits to the coils or ht leads or could one be adapted

I too was looking for a tach recently. Someone on this site refered me to a site that sells a tach that works by puting a wire around one of the spark plug wires. I didn't buy one myself because I found a used tach locally. But here is the web site if you want to check it out

i have seen those they look as though they would do the job , they are a lot cheeper in the USA, they are nearly the equivalent of $150 over here in the uk
